Your gift on Giving Tuesday will help support the causes and goals of our organization.
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Each year, on the Tuesday immediately following Thanksgiving, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
In 1946, Junior Women's Civic Club was founded by eight women with a unique vision. Together Reita Huffman, Jeanne Kellar Lane, Harriet Maloy, Carolyn Martens, Dorothy Parker, Jane Ransweiler and Bernice Turnbaugh saw the need for a service-minded organization dedicated to serving the community. From their bridge group, sprung what is today JWCC.
Over the past 65+ years, the club has responded to many calls for help. The Akron community has certainly felt the effects of JWCC efforts. To list all of the challenges that JWCC has tackled is too numerous. However, listed below are organizations to which major contributions have been made:
Akron Canton Regional Food Bank
Akron Children's Hospital
American Cancer Society
Battered Women's Shelter
Hospice Care Center
Interval Brotherhood Home
Ronald McDonald House of Akron
Ronald McDonald Charity Golf Classic
JWCC Scholarship Fund
Summit County Children's Services
Victims Assistance Program
Junior Women's Civic Club serves the needs of the community by supporting the areas of Art, Civic, Education and Health.
